One of the many lovely churches nestled in downtown Toronto, St Paul’s Basilica having been established in 1822, is the oldest RC congregation in the city. This Pieta was erected in 1933 as a memorial to Bishop Michael Powers and the hundreds who died during a typhus outbreak.
